You may have heard that Naughty Dog has moved into a new larger kennel. I wonder whether they were running out of space for all the awards they have been racking up for UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves. Thanks to the National Academy of Video Game Testers andd Reviewers (NAViGaTR) Awards, they now need to find space for another armful.
UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves and Naughty Dog were nominated in 15 categories (including nominations for both Emily Rose (Elena Fisher) and Claudia Black (Chloe Frazer) for Supporting Performance in a Drama), and walked away with 10. Their closest competitor was, unsurprisingly, BATMAN: Arkham Asylum, who managed a measley 9 gongs. BATMAN pipped UNCHARTED 2 to the coveted Game of the Year trophy, but I reckon Naughty Dog have enough of these to be using them as doorstops.
Nolan North won the Dogs the award for Lead Performance in a Drama for his work as our hero, Nathan Drake; and rightly so in my opinion. The odds on North picking up this gong were high as he was nominated twice in this category, such is his ubiquity. I am also personally very happy to report that Greg Edmonson’s work on the Original Score was recognised with an award. Edmonson’s soundtrack is unusual in that it works equally well both outside and inside the game. This award was well deserved.
