Hitting the news late yesterday is a report that David O. Russell, recently a rumored favorite of Sony to direct the film adaptation of UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune, was unable to come to an agreement with the studio. While Mr. Russell wasn’t officially slated as helming the production, the change comes at a time when updates were few and far between the once fast-tracked movie.
Sony had been hoping to get the movie in theaters during the Summer 2011 season, but that timing now comes into question. It is anticipated that the producers may possibly look to lock in one or two of the lead actors prior to finding another director to help move the momentum and buzz forward.
