Hello, everyone! Steven here, making my first official post as a contributor on All Things UNCHARTED! I am very happy to have been accepted to help out around here and thank you all for taking the time to give this a read! But let’s get down to brass tacks here, as I’m sure you’ve come to read about what’s on all of our minds: UNCHARTED 3! We’d best get started…
After weeks of rumors and debate, the highly anticipated UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception was officially confirmed on Thursday by Entertainment Weekly, who provided screen-shots, inside details and even a nice teaser trailer to complete the nifty little package. Of these details, we were told of new features that would be incorporated in UNCHARTED 3 such as what was called “Backwards Climbing” and the ability to fight multiple enemies at once. Read all about the demo showcased on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon here.
At the Spike awards two days following these announcements, we were told that among the many trailers and previews, UNCHARTED 3 would be one of them. And sure enough, the awards show waited until the very end to give us the world premier trailer of UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception. According to Naughty Dog’s Twitter, the trailer we saw was rendered in real-time using the game’s engine. What appeared to be high definition pre-rendered cutscenes were actually in-game cinematics. Unconfirmed by Naughty Dog, the models for Nate and Sully appear to be completely updated and look even more realistic and better crafted than they have before.
And finally, there are rumors going around that there is an UNCHARTED game in the works for Sony’s all-but-confirmed PSP2. The rumor says that the game would be developed by Sony Bend, formerly known as Eidetic, and the company behind the Syphon Filter series and the Resistence: Retribution. We haven’t heard so much as a whisper of confirmation of this, so this is as of now purely a rumor.
With sequels, potential PSP editions, books, and movies, it looks as though UNCHARTED is going to be having a busy next couple of years! Stay tuned for more news on UNCHARTED!
