It’s amazing how people are putting Google SketchUp to use; from designing virtual buildings for inclusion in Google Earth, visualizing storyboards and cinematography for movies and TV, quickly creating objects for exporting into full-scale 3D renderings, Naughty Dog is using it for concept art for UNCHARTED.
In an article on the official Google SketchUp blog, UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves‘ Art Director Robh Ruppel gives us insight into how he used Google SketchUp to provide a quicker means of concepting locations and environments, more quickly than a pen and watercolor could take them. Not only were they able to see specific angles, but they could rotate the environment in 3D to get every facet of what gamers would ultimately see on screen.
