The moment we have all been waiting for has arrived. It has been two years since the release of Uncharted 3; Drake’s Deception, and that time has been littered with ‘will they/won’t they’ posts. Turns out, they WILL. Another Uncharted has been announced to great joy the world over, and now all we have to do is wait for release.
Take a look at the teaser trailer;
So where is it taking us? Pirates! Seems like that old rumour wasn’t too far off the mark…
Some eagle eyed person spotted the above image in a video about the making of The Last of Us and thought it might have something to do with Naughty Dog’s next game. To be honest I wasn’t exactly convinced; I thought it was more likely some concept art for The Last of Us. But there you go.
It looks like we aren’t calling it Uncharted 4 yet. And by the looks of the trailer we are focusing on Henry Every; a very interesting character from the 1690s. I’ll put up a full history lesson for you all later. Trust me. He was awesome in a pretty awful sort of way. From what the unknown voice in the trailer says; I believe he is one of Every’s crew. Are we going back in time? It is worth noting that Every and Francis Drake were not contemporaries.
Given that the PS4 has all that power; I wonder how Naughty Dog are going to put it to use? I expect graphics will be even more amazing. (Still trying to get over the thought of Nathan Drake in next (current) gen glory. (Assuming he’s in it!?) That’s going to take some time.) It is also possible that the levels will be wider; giving the player more choice over where they go. Open-world it won’t be, but there is definitely the likelihood of more variety; much like The Last of Us had, but more so.
Whatever happens; I will there to report it. Follow me on Twitter for all the little updates that don’t make it to post.
