Well, the not very unexpected news has been announced – Uncharted 4; A Thief’s End will not be released in 2015, as we were told last E3, but rather it will be released in “Spring 2016”. The news was officially given in a blog post from Neil Druckmann, who assures us that the delay is only so they can make the game as incredible as possible. The project is more ambitious than previously realised.
While many people have been speculating about a delay for some time, the timing seems a little disjointed. Game Informed dedicated January to telling us all about Uncharted and in effect; ramped the hype up a notch. Some people (All Things Uncharted included) even felt that the amount of information being given over was too much, especially because the game (at that time) was at least half a year away. This led us to be slightly nonchalant about the delay speculation; but on the other hand, a contract had presumably been made with Game Informer. Or perhaps the decision was made very quickly. We don’t know.
The long and the short of it is, Uncharted 4 will be a 2016 release, meaning that it is back to being a whole year from now. While this is tiring, ultimately if it means the game is EVEN BETTER, we don’t really care that much. The older we get, the faster time seems to pass, anyway.
