Remember that summer when UNCHARTED fans were upset that David O Russell seemed hell bent on ruining the game franchise that seemed to have a great deal of potential to be made into a successful film? And remember how we collectively got up in arms about the apparent yet always unofficial choice for the star; Mark Wahlberg? Remember the massive sigh of relief we all felt when he dropped out (decided he was fighting a losing battle)? Well, Neil Burger stepped up to the mark, and for a time it looked like the UNCHARTED movie might finally get up and running.
That was until, of course, Burger also decided he wanted to do something else, for whatever reason. Well, now we have yet another set of writers; this time it is Marianne and Cormac Wibberley who believe they can script the film we want. The Wibblerley’s scripted National Treasure, which bodes well, as that film has many similarities with UNCHARTED so we know the talent and potential is there. On the other hand, we don’t want “another National Treasure”; we want UNCHARTED, so lets keep our fingers crossed. I am confident they can do it justice.
So as it stands, the UNCHARTED movie is *still* yet to really get going. I am beginning to wonder when or even if it is ever actually going to get made. Part of me would love to see it, as I know it can be done well; another part of me feels it should be left to the drawing board. At this rate it could be the legend that Nathan investigates in UNCHARTED 56: Drake’s Film.
